City Council Does The Right Thing
I see city council
overrode concerns from the Chamber of Commerce
and authorized the building of a senior
citizens complex on the corner of Arlington
Drive and Hebert Road.
Good for them. Some days we are quick to criticize council and slow to give credit where credit is due. In this case it is due.
As I wrote here back a month or two, it is an ideal site for such a complex with so many amenities within walking distance for the seniors who will ultimately live there.
The Chamber needs to give its head a shake before opposing such obvious benefits to the entire community.
There is a shortage of such housing and this is a welcome addition to our city.
The “all commercial” or “all residential” thinking of the Chamber is dinosaur thinking at best. The Chamber and its employees, along with the city's business and tourism branch, had better get with the new millennia. A well thought out mix of commercial and residential can benefit all.
Even the Chamber of Commerce and tourism.
Well done city council! Take a bow.
