Are New LED Street Lights An Issue?

Ever since the city of St. Albert agreed to allow complete replacement of the city’s street light system, at no cost to the city, we have received complaints about the lack of sleep the new LED lights are causing in the city.

To be perfectly clear, the complaints have been few. A resident complaining had asked us to make readers aware of ‘the facts’ as provided by
this article from the BBC. Consider that done.

So we wondered if this was a wide spread issue with the rest of our readers. For the record, I personally cannot comment on the switch to lower power consumption, but apparently brighter lighting as our neighbourhood has not yet been started for light replacement, never mind completed. We are still apparently ‘in the dark’ with the old standard yellow sodium type lighting.

Having talked to folks I know in Akinsdale, where the new lights have been in place now for a couple of months, we have yet to hear a single complaint.

So, SAP presents this simple poll to see if this is an issue with St. Albert residents or not.

Please take a minute to select your response to the poll below so we can determine whether or not the issue deserves any more attention by residents.

The city of St. Albert has allowed new LED street lighting to be installed city wide. We would like to know your reaction to these new lights if your neighbourhood has them installed. free polls
