Lessons Learned
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up her shower, when the doorbell rings.

The wife quickly wraps herself in a towel and runs downstairs.

When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next-door neighbour.

Before she says a word, Bob says, 'I'll give you $800 to drop that towel..'

After thinking for a moment, the woman drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob, after a few seconds, Bob hands her $800 and leaves.

The woman wraps back up in the towel and goes back upstairs.

When she gets to the bathroom, her husband asks, 'Who was that?'

'It was Bob the next door neighbour,' she replies.

'Great,' the husband says, 'did he say anything about the $800 he owes me?'

Viagra Factory Is Turning Men In This Town Into Walking Stiffs

Viagra Factory Is Turning Men
Residents of the village of Ringaskiddy in County Cork claim the fumes from the local Pfizer factory — which has long produced the erectile dysfunction drug — are arousing their menfolk, the Sunday Times reports.

“One whiff and you’re stiff,” local bartender Debbie O’Grady told the paper.

The stimulating vapors are even affecting man’s best friend, they say.

The People Who Descended From Spartans

The People Who Descended
The Mani peninsula’s jagged, rocky cliffs jut from the Peloponnese at the southernmost tip of mainland Greece, forcing the landscape to heave and billow like ocean waves. From the steep hilltops, stone houses resembling small castles stand with their backs to the colossal Taygetos mountains and look out over the stoic Ionian Sea.

This is the land of the Maniots, a clannish community said to be descended from Spartans, the legendary warriors of Ancient Greece.

A Horse Is A Horse, Of Course, Of Course -- Except When It Isn't

A Horse Is A Horse
An international team of researchers has discovered a previously unrecognized genus of extinct horses that roamed North America during the last ice age.

The new findings, published November 28 in the journal eLife, are based on an analysis of ancient DNA from fossils of the enigmatic "New World stilt-legged horse" excavated from sites such as Natural Trap Cave in Wyoming, Gypsum Cave in Nevada, and the Klondike goldfields of Canada's Yukon Territory.

Prior to this study, these thin-limbed, lightly built horses were thought to be related to the Asiatic wild ass or onager, or simply a separate species within the genus Equus, which includes living horses, asses, and zebras. The new results, however, reveal that these horses were not closely related to any living population of horses.

The Cashier

The Cashier
Justin Trudeau walks into a bank to cash a cheque in front of me one day: As he approaches the cashier he says, "Good morning, Ma'am, could you please cash this cheque for me?”

Cashier: "It would be my pleasure to do that sir. Could you please show me your ID?"

Trudeau: "Truthfully, I didn't bring any "ID" with me as I didn't think there would be any reason, he says, I'm the leader of the Liberal Party, I am the Prime minister of Canada".

Cashier: "Yes sir, I know who you are, but with all the regulations and monitoring of the banks today because of all the impostors and forgers and requirements of the CIDC legislation, etc., I must insist on seeing your ID."

Trudeau: "Just ask anyone here at the bank who I am and they will tell you. Everybody knows who I am."

Cashier: "I am sorry, Mr. Trudeau, but these are the rules and I must follow them."

Trudeau: I am urging you, please, cash this cheque."

Cashier: "Look Mr. Trudeau , here is an example of what we can do. One day, Mike Weir came into the bank without ID. To prove he was Mike Weir he pulled out his putter and made a beautiful shot across the bank into a cup. With that shot we knew him to be Mike weir and cashed his cheque for him. Another time, Wayne Gretzky came in without ID. He pulled out his hockey stick and made a fabulous shot with a hockey puck it landed in an over turned trash can at the other end of the bank. With that shot we cashed his cheque. So, Mr. Trudeau, what can you do to prove that it is really you, and only you?"

Trudeau stands there thinking, and thinking, and finally says, ummmm "Honestly, my mind is a totally blank, I have absolutely no idea what to do, I don't have a clue. I really don't have a clue."

Cashier: Says, OK thanks. Will that be large or small bills, Mr Trudeau?"

The Devious Art Of Lying By Telling The Truth

The Devious Art Of Lying
It is no secret that politicians often lie, but consider this – they can do so simply by telling the truth. Confused?

That statement becomes clearer when you realise that we've probably all done it. A classic example might be if your mum asks if you've finished your homework and you respond: "I've written an essay on Tennessee Williams for my English class." This may be true, but it doesn't actually answer the question about whether your homework was done. That essay could have been written long ago and you have misled your poor mother with a truthful statement. You might not have even started your homework yet.

Misleading by "telling the truth" is so pervasive in daily life that a new term has recently been coined to describe it: paltering.

Researchers Discover Seaweed That Tastes Like Bacon And Is Twice As Healthy As Kale

Researchers Discover Seaweed
Researchers at Oregon State have patented a new strain of seaweed that tastes like bacon when it's cooked.

The seaweed, a form of red marine algae, looks like translucent red lettuce. It also has twice the nutritional value of kale and grows very quickly. Did we mention it tastes like bacon?

Circus Couple And The Adoption Agency

Circus Couple And The Adoption Agency
A husband and wife who worked for the circus went to an adoption agency.

The social workers there raised doubts about their suitability. The couple then produced photos of their 50-foot motor home, which was clean and well maintained and equipped with a beautiful nursery.

The social workers then raised concerns about the education a child would receive while in the couple's care. "We've arranged for a full-time tutor who will teach the child all the usual subjects along with French, Mandarin, and computer skills.

Then the social workers expressed concern about a child being raised in a circus environment. "Our nanny will be a certified expert in pediatric care, welfare, and diet.”

The social workers were finally satisfied. They asked, "What age child are you hoping to adopt?”

"It doesn't really matter as long as the kid fits in the cannon.

The Surprising Upsides Of An Accelerating World

The Surprising Upsides
Have you ever felt that your life might be jammed on fast forward, accelerating away from you into the distance?

It’s not your imagination: we are surrounded by daily indications that the pace of life is picking up, from how quickly we think the day is passing, to the length of shots in Hollywood movies, to our ever-decreasing tolerance for standing around in queues.

Nowhere is this more prevalent than in the office, where life can feel like an endless procession of emails and meetings, with precious little time to get anything productive done.

YOU WILL PAY THE PRICE

By Don Hamaliuk

When you change your mind, your body will change too
Your mind is working constantly, relaying what to do
If you just ignore it, your conscious will kick in
And all that you’re not doing right, will seem like such a sin

You’re searching for approval, that’s just the human way
And it’s a constant struggle, watching what you say
Your mind will keep on working, on every word you speak
Ensuring there is logic, in all of them you seek

When you’re trying to be funny, and something comes out wrong
And your feeling is so heavy, like a hurtin country song
Don’t worry about that feeling, it’s one that we all know
It has all been thought before and won’t take long to go

But if you hang on to it, you will pay the price
It will show up on your body and doesn’t look so nice
Your skin will start to wrinkle and your face will show the lines
Revealing your life’s story, of not so happy times

The Whatzit pic first made me think of rolled up fabric, and
then of pie crust dough. Can't say for sure what it is but it will

*
I thought it was a roll of Pillsbury dough as
well. -

*
Well they beat me to the generalized guess, and so to be
more specific I'll have to add and say it's a photo shot of the
ready made pastry dough from a can for making
"Bake-it-Fresh" type croissants. -

The Cynical Philosopher
♦ I read that 4,153,237 people got married last year. Not to cause any trouble, but shouldn't that be an even number?

♦ I find it ironic that the colours red, white, and blue stand for freedom until they are flashing behind you.

♦ When wearing a bikini, women reveal 90% of their body. Men are so polite they only look at the covered parts.

Old Fashioned Recipes from the 1950s
Are you nostalgic for the good old American fare of the 1950s? It was a time when fast food really took off with now-giants of the industry like McDonald's and KFC, and sitting down with the family for dinner was the norm. You can't time travel, but you can remember days of poodle skirts, juke boxes and diner food with these old fashioned recipes.

See them all on Recipe Lion.
