A Blonde Tired Of Blonde Jokes

A Blonde Tired Of Blonde Jokes
One evening, she went home and memorized all the state capitals.

Back in the office the next day, some guy started telling a dumb blonde joke. She interrupted him with a shrill announcement, "I've had it up to here with these blonde jokes. I want you to know that this blonde went home last night and did something probably none of you could do. I memorized all the state capitals."

One of the guys, of course, said, "I don't believe you. What is the capital of Nevada?"

"N," she answered.

I Lived On Nothing But Beer For A Week, And Survived

I Lived On Nothing
It was supposed to be a spiritual experience.

Instead, I felt like a bottle of beer left out overnight, and if friends were to be believed, I also smelled like one. I could taste my own breath so intensely it formed a pressure system in my throat—a miasma huddling against my tonsils.

This shouldn't be surprising. For the seven days leading up to Christmas Eve, I subsisted on nothing but beer. You are unlikely to find this diet recommended in the pages of Men's Fitness, but there are nonetheless those who believe in it.

Dangerous Foods

Dangerous Foods
A doctor was addressing a large audience about the material we put into our stomachs. It is enough to have killed most of us sitting here, years ago.

Red meat is awful. Soft drinks corrode your stomach lining. Chinese food is loaded with MSG. High fat diets can be disastrous, and none of us realizes the long-term harm caused by the germs in our drinking water.

However, there is one thing that is the most dangerous of all that we all have eaten, or will eat it. Can anyone here tell me what food it is that causes the most grief and suffering for years after eating it?'

After several seconds of quiet, a 75-year-old man in the front row raised his hand, and softly said, 'Wedding Cake.'

Former Facebook Exec Says Social Media Is Ripping Apart Society

Former Facebook Exec
‘No civil discourse, no cooperation; misinformation, mistruth.’

Another former Facebook executive has spoken out about the harm the social network is doing to civil society around the world. Chamath Palihapitiya, who joined Facebook in 2007 and became its vice president for user growth, said he feels “tremendous guilt” about the company he helped make. “I think we have created tools that are ripping apart the social fabric of how society works,” he told an audience at Stanford Graduate School of Business, before recommending people take a “hard break” from social media.

Palihapitiya’s criticisms were aimed not only at Facebook, but the wider online ecosystem. “The short-term, dopamine-driven feedback loops we’ve created are destroying how society works,” he said, referring to online interactions driven by “hearts, likes, thumbs-up.” “No civil discourse, no cooperation; misinformation, mistruth. And it’s not an American problem — this is not about Russians ads. This is a global problem.”

8 Cultural Traditions Protected By UNESCO

8 Cultural Traditions
The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) is probably best known for protecting historically and culturally significant sites, like the Great Wall of China or the Old City of Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Culture is more than just buildings, monuments and natural wonders, however. It can also be, as UNESCO explains, "oral traditions, performing arts, social practices, rituals, festive events, knowledge and practices concerning nature and the universe."

To that end, UNESCO has the Intangible Cultural Heritage list that monitors and works to help safeguard the more ephemeral aspects of culture.

Here are a few videos spotlighting intangible cultural traditions that have been recognized by UNESCO.

A New Perfume

A New Perfume
Apparently it delivers a whiff of puppy pee, a slight air of stale marijuana, set against a strong backdrop odour of good old fashioned farmyard bullshit.

Gives you the confidence to "move on" from the realities of life to a place where budgets balance themselves, no one is accountable for their actions, most minorities are victims of one kind or another, worthy of large amounts of monetary compensation, and you feel overwhelmed with a sense of giving. Giving open arms, total amnesty and a warm welcome to those Canadians who decided to go overseas and fight for ISIS and then return to their homeland, as well as to those who choose to enter Canada illegally because they don't like the current government in the U.S.

Modern Cities That Became Ghost Towns Because No One Wanted to Live There

Modern Cities
Every year, new cities are built from scratch around the world. However, they don’t always find their inhabitants. Hundreds of new residential houses are empty, sitting in eternal expectation of their owners. One can find such newborn ghost towns in different parts of the world.

We at Bright Side wondered why this happens, and look what we’ve found. The most interesting thing we prepared for you is at the end of the article.

How Pirates Of The Caribbean Hijacked America's Metric System

How Pirates Of The Caribbean
If the United States were more like the rest of the world, a McDonald's Quarter Pounder might be known as the McDonald's 113-Grammer, John Henry's 9-pound hammer would be 4.08 kilograms, and any 800-pound gorillas in the room would likely weigh 362 kilos.

One reason this country never adopted the metric system might be pirates. Here's what happened:

A NURSERY MIND

By Don Hamaliuk

Are you a good mother, are you a good wife
A positive influence, for all in your life
If you hesitate to answer, don’t be too worried
It’s tough to stay focused, when your days are so hurried

So you need to find time, just for little old you
To do things you love, that you normally don’t do
If you neglect all of that and worry too much
In no time at all, you’ll be out of touch

And when that happens, it should be no surprise
That your mind will be broken and your ego downsized
So you need to be careful, how you split up your time
Or your life will become, like a nursery rhyme

Like little Bo Peep, that has lost all her sleep
And the wheels on the bus, that fell off in a heap
Or like rowing your boat all over the place
And all kinds of wrinkles all over your face

The only thing I can think of re the Whatzit pic is a K’NEX Toy
set I once bought for Stephen.

*
They look like pizza box lid risers but I’m wondering if they are
Christmas light wire holders?

*
Well Don, I'd say today's Sunday Whatzit? should be fairly easy
for anyone who has been involved in the construction industry,
and they have to be a type of rebar plastic "chair" supports
usually used in floor and paving concrete work. And it looks like a
single orange larger diameter rebar end protective cap got into
the bag as well.

The Chicken Caper

The Chicken Caper
A butcher is selling meat at his shop and is down to his last chicken.

A woman comes into the store and approaches the butcher. She asks the butcher for a chicken.

The butcher goes into the freezer and pulls out his only remaining chicken. He returns and puts it on the counter.

The woman takes a look at the chicken and asks the butcher if he has any larger chicken.

The butcher takes the chicken and puts it back in the freezer. He waits a minute, pulls the same chicken back out of the freezer, and returns. He puts it in front of the woman and says this is a bigger chicken.

“Great!” Says the woman, “I’ll take them both!”

Strange-Smelling Delicacy

Strange-Smelling Delicacy
Putrefied skata, or “skate,” a fish related to sharks, has a strange smell. That I have to admit, but nevertheless I love the taste of it and have eaten it since I was a small boy in the West Fjords. Many young Icelanders have failed to test this delicacy since the strong odor discourages them from trying it.

But skata is just like any strong smelling cheese or even some fruit, like Durian which is considered a delicacy in Thailand. Skata has a wonderful, sweet taste and those Icelanders who still eat it will stuff themselves on Thorláksmessa (Mass of St. Thorlák, patron saint of Iceland, celebrated on December 23) because most feast on it only once a year.
