The Squeezer

The Squeezer
The local bar was so sure that its bartender was the strongest man around that they offered a standing $1000 bet. The bartender would squeeze a lemon all the juice ran into a glass and handed the lemon to a patron. Anyone who could squeeze one more drop of juice out would win the money.

Many people had tried over time; weightlifters, longshoremen, etc, but nobody could do it.

One day, this scrawny little old fellow came into the bar, wearing thick glasses and a polyester suit and said in a small voice, "I'd like to try the bet."

After the laughter had died down, the bartender said, "OK", grabbed the lemon and squeezed away. Then he handed the wrinkled remains of the rind to the little fellow.

The crowd's laughter turned to total silence as the man clenched his little fist around the lemon and six drops fell into the glass.

As the crowd cheered, the bartender paid the $1000 and asked the little man, "What do you do for a living? Are you a lumberjack, a weight-lifter or what?"

The little fellow quietly replied: "I work for Canada Revenue Service."

When Stray Cats Domesticated Me

When Stray Cats Domesticated Me
Despite not owning a pet, I found myself nervously calling a veterinarian a few weeks ago.

"How many sick cats do you have?" asked the receptionist.

"Just one. There were more, but there's only one left."

"Long haired or short haired?"

"I don't know. Furry?"

"What color?"

"Calico, I think? Splotchy?"

"What's her name?"

"It doesn't have one."

"What?"

"It's a stray. I never gave it a name. I … I didn't want to get attached." The receptionist laughed at me.

Amazing Simple Home Remedies

Amazing Simple Home Remedies
Thanks to SAP reader Patrick in BC for alerting us to this one.

1. Avoid cutting yourself when slicing vegetables by getting someone else to hold the vegetables while you chop.

2. Avoid arguments with the females about lifting the toilet seat by using the sink.

3. For high blood pressure sufferers - simply cut yourself and bleed for a few minutes, thus reducing the pressure on your veins. remember to use a timer.

4. A mouse trap placed on top of your alarm clock will prevent you from rolling over and going back to sleep after you hit the snooze button.

5. If you have a bad cough, take a large dose of laxatives. then you'll be afraid to cough.

6. You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and duct tape. if it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. if it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

7. If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

Mystery Solved

Mystery Solved
Three male bodies arrive at the morgue with big smiles frozen on their lifeless faces. The Detective calls the Coroner to ask what happened to the men.

"First body: French. 60. Died of Congestive Heart Failure while making love to his mistress. Hence the enormous smile, Detective", said the Coroner.

"Second body: Scottish. 25. Won one thousand dollars on the slot machines, spent it all on Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky. Died of acute alcohol poisoning. Hence going out with a smile."

The Detective asked, "What about the third body?"

"Ah," said the Coroner, "This is the most unusual one: Justin Trudeau, Prime Minister of Canada, 45. Struck by lightning."

"Why is he smiling then?" asked the Detective.

"He thought someone was taking his picture."

Uniquely Annoying Spite Houses

9 Uniquely Annoying Spite Houses
In this day and age, there are more than a few easy ways to use your home as a tool to antagonize someone who you don’t care for all that much.

Did a neighbor leave a note not-so-politely asking you to tone down your ghoulish Halloween display? Next year, add his or her name to a customized foam headstone and display it nice and close to the sidewalk.

Does your mother-in-law frequently complain about how unwieldy and unkempt your lush backyard veggie patch looks? Serve her salads that incorporate ingredients grown in said backyard veggie patch from here on out.

Engaged in a long-running neighborly squabble? Plant a view-obstructing revenge hedge — it’s a lot prettier and better for the environment than a boring old fence.

While the list of creative ways — some more passive-aggressive or involved than others — to elevate the blood pressure of a jerk neighbor or another unsavory character could go on and on, there’s nothing quite like constructing an entire house with the sole purpose of getting someone's proverbial goat.

Senior Question

Senior Question
The eighty-three year old lady finished her annual physical examination, the Doctor said, "You are in fine shape for your age, Mrs. Emma, but tell me, do you still have intercourse?"

"Just a minute, I'll have to ask my husband, “she said.

She stepped out into the crowded reception room and yelled out loud: "John, do we still have intercourse?" There was a complete hush - you could have heard a pin drop.

John answered impatiently, "If I told you once, Emma, I've told you a hundred times ... What we have is Blue Cross!"

You’ve Been Cooking Bacon All Wrong

You’ve Been Cooking Bacon All Wrong
Bacon is delicious. It’s easy to prepare and takes little time to produce the perfect crispy, slightly chewy, salty, fatty pieces of heaven that so many people love to eat.

With great deliciousness, however, may come great danger. Picture yourself at the stove, cooking bacon in one pan and eggs in another, boiling water for coffee and marvelously multitasking when suddenly — out of nowhere — you get hit!! Straight in the face or square on the neck, tiny specks of lava-hot fat, shooting like bullets up from the pan of sizzling bacon! With eggs sputtering in one pan, water boiling viciously in another, and a pan of bacon firing ceaselessly, a cooked breakfast can suddenly feel like a military invasion.

The Breakfast Order

The Breakfast Order
A trucker came into a truck stop restaurant and placed his order.

“I want three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards.”

The brand-new waitress, not wanting to appear stupid, went to the kitchen and said to the cook, “This guy out there just ordered three flat tires, a pair of headlights and a pair of running boards … What does he think this place is, an auto parts store?”

“No,” the cook said. “Three flat tires means three pancakes; a pair of headlights is two eggs sunny side up; and a pair of running boards is two slices of crisp bacon!”

“Oh … OK!” replied the waitress. She thought about it for a moment and then spooned up a bowl of beans and gave it to the customer.

The trucker asked, “What are the beans for?”

She replied, “I thought while you were waiting for the flat tires, headlights and running boards, you might as well gas up!”

Why Moms Should Put Down The Wine And Pick Up The Weed

Why Moms Should Put Down
"Motherhood, powered by love, fueled by coffee, sustained by wine."

That's a common trope these days: Moms drink wine. Lots of wine, from the sound of it. Motherhood is hard, and nothing makes hard stuff easier than sipping a little rosé and watching Netflix. We know it, everyone knows it. Boozy moms are a thing, especially boozy millennial moms.

What's less commonly known is that moms, particularly stay-at-home moms, live with depression at a higher rate than other folks.

The Sunday Whatzit? Answer
whatzit Nov 12:17
Whatzit a picture of?
This a colourized photo of blood clot crystals taken
under a scanning electron microscope or S.E.M.
The colourization is just to show the different shapes,
since S.E.M. pictures are black and white.
Congrats to Patrick in BC for his correct guess.

Oddities To Ponder

Oddities To Ponder
Everything weighs one percent less at the equator.

For every extra kilogram carried on a space flight, 530 kg of excess fuel are needed at lift-off.

The letter J does not appear anywhere on the periodic table of the elements.

How One Man Is Spreading The Gospel Of Vermouth

How One Man Is Spreading
Shrouded in mystery, vermouth makers would have you believe it’s all built on secret recipes, passed down from generation to generation with mythical ingredients picked from exotic locations. Even the bottles themselves provided little insight as to what exactly was stored inside.

Until now….

There hasn't been a plethora of tools available to bartenders with which they could learn from, teach, and expand their knowledge of vermouth. We all have information at our fingertips with the likes of Google and spirit-focused websites (such as this one), but there's no single resource for the fortified wine most of us carry in our venues.

CONFUSED AND UNCERTAIN

By Don Hamaliuk

They’ve got me hoping, that things will get better
But it scares me so much; I’m a constant fretter
If this doesn’t kill me, it might make me stronger
But I’m not so sure, I can holdout much longer

Mental illness is much too common, in our lives
Affecting our children, husbands and wives
There is no telling when this affliction takes hold
Chemical intervention is necessary; I’m told

There may be more ways, of injecting some hope
In the lives of the needy, along with the dope
A job, a career, a stronger circle of friends
The hope can be endless, if the search never ends

It sounds so simple, but the need is so strong
The feeling as if nothing, in life can go wrong
Still confused and uncertain, of what I should do
I need you to help me and I’m counting on you

Give me a strong purpose, to get up every day
Someone to look up to and show me the way
I just need some guidance, to get me out of this mess
Your encouragement and acceptance, may give me success

The Man And The Genie

The Man And The Genie
A man is walking along a beach when he comes across a lamp partially buried in the sand. He picks up the lamp and gives it a rub.

A large genie appears out of the bottle and tells him he has been granted one wish.

The guy thinks for a moment and says, "I want to live forever."

"Sorry," said the genie, "I'm not allowed to grant eternal life."

"OK, then, I want to die after a Liberal government balances the budget and eliminates the debt."

The genie stared at him a second or two then said … "You crafty little bastard."

Behold! Purr-Fect Furniture For Cats

Behold! Purr-Fect Furniture For Cats
If you're a cat owner, you're no stranger to furniture that has been coated in fur or clawed to shreds as an ad hoc scratching post. Or both. (Probably both.)

We feebly attempt to counter these feline impulses with less-than-aesthetically-pleasing towers covered in carpet and rope. Maybe those towers have a little swing? Sometimes we offer up a brightly colored cat bed of some sort, one that seems soft and comfy to us, but that a cat will sniff at for a few minutes before resuming its perfect perch on the arm of your sofa, claws in just deep enough to leave a mark.

Those days may be coming to end, however, as furniture makers and retailers realize there's a market for cat furniture that is stylish for us humans and attractive to our furry feline friends.
