Ever Wonder?
Why do people order double cheeseburgers, large fries and a diet coke?

Why do banks leave vault doors open and then chain the pens to the counters?

Why do we leave cars worth thousands of dollars in our driveways and put our useless junk in the garage?

The Best Barbecue Ribs You've Ever Tasted!

The Best Barbecue Ribs
This is the recipe for making the best barbecue ribs you ever tasted. They are marinated in a dry rub, then smoked low and slow, the sauce is added near the end and sizzled on. Just like the champion pitmasters and the best ribjoints do it. Recipe Type. Entree. Tags. bbq, barbecue, ribs, smoking, grilling, bbq ribs.

Enter our annual "Show Us Your Ribface" Photo contest and win some nice prizes! Click here for the rules.
Pork ribs are the holy grail. Mastering them marks the difference between the tyro, pyro, and pitmaster.
We're talking Southern ribs here, a style created by African slaves and as uniquely American as their other great contributions to our culture: Jazz and the blues.

American Breakfast Through The Decades

American Breakfast
As with everything in this fast-paced, fleeting world, the average American breakfast has evolved over time. One hundred and ten years ago, that kale-and-almond-butter smoothie you’re clutching in your Soul Cycle-sweaty claw would be replaced with a filigreed silver table fork, perhaps spearing a wiggly lump of jellied veal. Or, 42 years ago, you might have been choking down something called Crab Imperial Chesapeake in between slurps of Tab. Or, 31 years ago, you could have been double-dipping between bowls of Rainbow Brite and Mr. T novelty cereals. (I hope you ’80s kids know how good you had it.)

And as with every trend, the popular dishes and products gracing American breakfast tables over the years were influenced by a number of factors: the socio-economic and political landscape (like food rationing during the World Wars), breakthroughs in technology (welcome to the 1930s, refrigerators!), and the advent and evolution of pop culture (hello, 1950s “teen-agers”!). But some trends proved lasting—even during the Great Depression, families still managed to fry up a plate of bacon and brew a pot of coffee.

What's Your Culinary Achilles' Heel?

What's Your Culinary
Everyone has a dish (even a staple, like rice) that they can't get right.

Try as they might, some people just can't make a good pan of brownies. For others, it's not difficult at all. (Photo: Chiociolla/Shutterstock)
I have two friends who can't make brownies — even from a box. The centers stay mushy, the edges get burnt and they stick to the pan. It doesn't matter what kind of pan, either. Their brownies never turn out. I know this because I asked my Facebook friends if there were any foods they simply couldn't get right.

I don't know how to help them. My brownies always turn out well, whether I'm using a mix from a box or making them from scratch (usually following Alton Brown's Cocoa Brownie recipe). It mystifies me that some people can't make brownies, even when following a recipe — that is, until I think about the fact that I can't make gravy.

Since then he has played with some of Canada's most respected bands and alongside some of the world’s more recognized artists, opening in the early days for 'The Tom Northcott Trio' , The Guess Who, The Youngbloods, Witness Inc., The Fireballs, Lighthouse, Crowbar, Whisky Howl, and King Biscuit Boy.

In the following decades, Dennis was a member of 'The Kenny Shields Band (Streethart) ', 'Toronto with Holly Woods' and Tacoy Ryde/Jato doing shows with artists as varied as Joan Jett, The Third World Band, Steel Pulse, The Soweto Gospel Choir and Royal Southern Brotherhood, and performing at numerous Canadian festivals featuring Canada's most revered acts (Chilliwack, Headpins, Trooper, The Tragically Hip, Monkey Junk, Big Sugar, and more.)

Now as a veteran, Dennis freelances locally and regionally with a new generation of artists such as Angela Mackenzie, Paula Perro, and Lynne Chwyl. In addition, Dennis is looking forward to finishing his current recording project under his own banner. Great to have Dennis back gracing our stage. -

Didn’t Realize How Little I Knew

Didn’t Realize Just How Little I Knew
* It was the accepted practice in Babylon 4,000 years ago that for a month after the wedding, the bride's father would supply his son-in-law with all the mead he could drink.

Mead is a honey beer and because their calendar was lunar based, this period was called the honey month, which we know today as the honeymoon.

Only In Iceland Could A Letter With A Map But No Address Reach Its Destination

Only In Iceland
Foreign tourists met a kind woman while on a stopover in the Icelandic city of Búðardalur, and they wanted to send her a letter.

The only problem? They didn't know her name ... or her address.

But with some ingenuity, a decent memory and the help of a dedicated postal carrier, the letter made it to its destination. The senders drew a map to the woman's home, showing several roads, a fjord, an arrow and a red dot where she lives.

The aptly named Panda Power Plant in Datong, Shanxi province is putting an adorable face to renewable energy.

Since 2016, Panda Green Energy has been working with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to promote the development of renewable sources of energy in China. Well, it appears that their efforts have paid off.

When it's finished, the world's cutest power plant is expected to cover approximately 1500 acres and will be constructed in the image of "China's national treasure," aka a panda bear.

BE CAREFUL WITH YOUR EGO

By Don Hamaliuk

I’ve got these words inside me and need to get them out
Most are soft and gentle but some just make me shout
Like thinking about the egos, of our world today
How some turned out so greedy and need to have their way

My mind goes on the defense, for everyone they hurt
Building on their empires, like a privileged stuffed shirt
I wish they’d come to their senses and give-up all their greed
And spread their wealth and wisdom, to all that really need

But our world’s not quite ready, to do that at this time
We need to get more writers, working on their rhymes
The influence that’s needed, to give their head a shake
Is what most every mother, would like their child to take

Be respectful of each other and choose your words with care
Be happy with your lot in life and the people that are there
Work when you have to, but take some time to play
And be careful with your ego, when things don’t go your way

All The Theories Of Amelia Earhart's Mystery Disappearance

All The Theories
Amelia Earhart disappeared over the Pacific Ocean 80 years ago, but those decades have done little to satisfy the appetite of investigators still searching for her true fate.

The latest piece of possible evidence in Earhart's disappearance came on Wednesday when a History Channel documentary released a newfound photo from the US National Archives of several blurry figures. Investigators claim the photo depicts Earhart, her navigator, Fred Noonan, and her plane on the Marshall Islands after their disappearance.

The theory, explored further in the documentary, argues that Earhart and Noonan crashed near the Marshall Islands, about 1,000 miles away from their intended target of Howland Island, and were captured by the Japanese.

But that theory is dismissed by other Earhart investigators, and it's just one of a number of possible ideas speculating what happened to Earhart.
