Fishin' Alberta With Paul Chaisson

GoneFishin
Here is a story on the new lab monitoring and testing fish for whirling disease. Some local trout ponds have not being stocked due to infection.

Hermitage Park Pond and few others. Hoping testing and local treatment of ponds will bring back more trout. If you fish for trout and see fish swimming in a circle on the surface please report this to local Fish and Wildlife. Their number is 780-310-0000 and ask the call to be redirected.

The fish in some lakes will be removed in order to stop the spread. Also see:

Latex Gloves

Latex Gloves
A dentist noticed that his next patient, a little old lady, was nervous, so he decided to tell her a little joke as he put on his gloves.

'Do you know how they make these gloves?' he asked.

'No, I don't,' she replied.

'Well,' he spoofed, 'there's a building in Canada with a big tank of latex, and workers of all hand sizes walk up to the tank, dip in their hands, let them dry, then peel off the gloves and throw them into boxes of the right size.'

She didn't crack a smile.

'Oh, well. I tried,' he thought.

But five minutes later, during a delicate portion of the procedure, she burst out laughing.

'What's so funny?' he asked.

'I was just envisioning how condoms are made!'

People In London Are Doing Yoga While Drinking Ice Cold Beer

People In London
You can now sip on an ice cold beer at a Vinyasa Yoga class in London. It's called "Beer Yoga" and classes are hosted by Funzing UK in a traditional English pub.

They say it "complements the joy of drinking beer and the mindfulness of yoga."

"It adds a little bit more extra relaxation because a lot of people tend to be very tense when they come. Especially their first time," yoga teacher Guzel Mursalimova told Business Insider UK.

Pints At Dawn: Is This Last Call For London's Market Pubs?

Pints At Dawn
Smithfield Market in central London is bustling with activity at 7am, as butchers in blood-stained white coats rush to finish up after a long night’s work.

Inside the Fox and Anchor, Michael Pucknell is nursing an after-work lager as the kitchen is taking first orders for English breakfasts. A young man with a blood stain on his shirt wanders into the pub, greeting us tiredly before ordering a pint. “This is my mate Dave, he’s a proper butcher,” says Pucknell.

We are in one of London’s few remaining early houses: traditional pubs that open to drinkers first thing in the morning.

HYPNOSIS

HYPNOSIS
A woman comes home and tells her husband, 'Remember those headaches I've been having all these years ? Well, they're gone.'

'No more headaches?' the husband asks, 'What happened ?'

His wife replies, 'Angie referred me to a hypnotist & he told me to stand in front of a mirror, stare at myself and repeat, 20 times

I do not have a headache
I do not have a headache
I do not have a headache

Well, it worked ! The headaches are all gone.'

'Well, that is wonderful' proclaims the husband.

His wife then says, 'You know, you haven't been exactly a ball of fire in the bedroom these last few years, why don't you go see the hypnotist and see if he can do anything for that?'

Reluctantly, the husband agrees to try it.

Following his appointment, the husband comes home, rips off his clothes, picks up his wife and carries her into the bedroom. He puts her on the bed and says, 'Don't move, I'll be right back.'

He goes into the bathroom and comes back a few minutes later and jumps into bed and makes passionate love to his wife like never before.

His wife says, 'WOW ! - that was wonderful!'

The husband says, 'Don't move ! I will be right back.'

He goes back into the bathroom, comes back and round two was even better than the first time.

The wife sits up and her head is spinning 'OH MY GOD' she proclaims.

Her husband again says, 'Don't move, I'll be right back.'

With that, he goes back in the bathroom.

This time, his wife quietly follows him in the bathroom, she sees him standing at the mirror and saying ....

She's not my wife
She's not my wife
She's not my wife

His funeral service will be held Saturday.

Do Women Like Being Sexually Harassed? Men In New Survey Say Yes.

Do Women Like Being
Almost every woman who’s been catcalled has wondered, to herself or to friends, what men get out of the sport. Do they really think she’s going to stop, take out her earbuds, and hand over her phone number? How many instances of street harassment actually end in dates, sexual encounters, or loving relationships? Or do they just like watching women get uncomfortable?

A report released in May offers a bit of insight into why men harass women in public and what environmental factors predispose them to such behavior.

Cam Mackay Announces Candidacy
For Mayor Of The City Of St. Albert

cam mackay park
Pledges to Bring Community, Private Sector and Political Experience, Common Sense Judgment, and Principle to Office

Cam MacKay of St. Albert, current City Councillor, declared his candidacy for Mayor of St. Albert yesterday.

“I am pleased and honoured to announce my candidacy for Mayor of the City of St. Albert. During my two terms as a city councillor, I have gained an understanding of the complexities of municipal government and how to work together to get things done.

“Most importantly, the primary role for the mayor should be to be an advocate and a representative for St. Albertans. There are many issues that will come before us in the next four years. They include transportation issues like roads, an annexation, tax increases, finding efficiencies, large capital project decisions, and governance reforms.

“Second, the mayor should be a essential and active communications link between the people and the city. In my role as a business consultant, city councillor, and community volunteer, I am in touch with both citizens and business owners. I understand the issues and will continue to advocate for all of us as mayor.

“Third, as mayor, I can be a respected partner with the city manager. I took the lead on council to replace the city manager and improve the management of the city. I am looking forward to working collaboratively with Mr. Scoble and the highly qualified team he has assembled.

“Fourth, the primary issue before us is to continue to balance fiscal responsibility with sound judgment. When I first elected last term, I championed to finding efficiencies, cost savings, and greater accountability to the public. When elected this term, I faced criticism for pledging to keep tax increases at below 1.5 percent a year. Yet, this has been accomplished each year of this term through my hard work and advocacy and that of the rest of council.

“I believe that the foundation of any community should include efficient public services, recreational opportunities, a business friendly environment, and sound ethical leadership from council. If we want to attract people and business to St. Albert, we must work to improve in these areas.

“I look forward to a positive campaign, meeting people, and tackling challenges with common sense solutions. “

“Come and meet me this coming Saturday between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. at 59 Sturgeon Road in Red Willow Park and enjoy a free hotdog. I am looking forward to meeting you. Parking is available just off Sturgeon Road.”

More information about what I stand for is available on my website at
http://votecammackay.com. I can be reached by phone at 780-721-8679 or by e-mail at votecammackay@shaw.ca or mackaycam@shaw.ca

Meet Eclipse, The Bus-Riding Dog Of Seattle

Meet Eclipse,
If there's one thing that Eclipse, a black lab who resides in Seattle, proves, it's that humans aren't wholly necessary for trips to the dog park.

Garnering notoriety in 2015, Eclipse is known for catching the bus to a dog park three or four stops from her home, and often doing so without the aid of her human companion, Jeff Young.

She even has a transit card attached to her harness. These solo trips on the bus all began when Young was taking too long to finish a cigarette for Eclipse's liking, and she just hopped on the next bus. (Young followed suit on the next bus.)

More on the mother nature network.

Explorers Probing Deep Sea Abyss Off Australia's Coast Find Living Wonders

Explorers Probing Deep Sea
Far below the surface of the ocean, off the coast of eastern Australia, is an area simply known as "the abyss." The largest and deepest habitat on the planet, the abyssal zone stretches well beyond Australia's waters and spans half the world's oceans — but it remains largely unexplored.

Marine biologist Tim O'Hara recently set out change that, on a monthlong expedition with about two dozen scientists from seven countries. The voyage dredged up hundreds of previously unknown species along the way.

The Sunday Whatzit? Answer
Sugar Loaf1
Hmm, nice even shape … whatzit?
It's old way of serving sugar, called a sugar loaf.
The picture is deceiving, as these mounds of sugar could
run to 14 pounds in weight. This is how your household
sugar arrived in the late 1800's, before sugar cubes and
granulated sugar were available. You needed these sugar nips
Sugar Nips
to break off pieces for your use. Read more about it here.
Congratulations to Deborah in NS for her correct guess.

The Untold and Deeply Stoned Story Of The First U.S. Rock Festival

The Untold and Deeply Stoned
On June 10th and 11th, 1967 — one week before the Monterey Pop Festival and two years before Woodstock — tens of thousands of Bay Area music fans converged on the Sydney B. Cushing Memorial Amphitheatre on Mount Tamalpais in Marin County, California, for the first U.S. rock festival. Conceived as a promotion for the KFRC 610 AM radio station, the Fantasy Fair and Magic Mountain Music Festival featured more than 30 acts, including the Doors, Jefferson Airplane, the Byrds and Captain Beefheart & the Magic Band, as well as a group of Hells Angels and an "acid doctor" to mitigate bad trips. Arguably, the festival was the true start of the Summer of Love, and this is its previously untold story.

FATHERHOOD

By Don Hamaliuk

How good a Dad, have you been so far
Is your love deep and personal and are you up to par
Are your kids polite and respectful, do they open up their heart
Is their confidence level fine, do they play their family part

Did you teach them to be gentle, especially with themself
Have you shown them how to park, their worries on the shelf
You have an obligation, for the children that you make
To take them down the road of life and learn from your mistake

How much is this a learning, from your father and his too
Is it something that comes natural, unable to undo
I feel like there’s a guide, living in my heart
Displaying my true fatherhood, when I’m doing my part

Our forefathers were so proud, as we are so proud too
To have so much hope, for all our kids can do
I wonder if they’re watching, from somewhere up above
Guiding us in doing, all we do for love

READER GUESSES:

*
Morning, Don. I don't have a clue as to the Whatzit pic ... and
I shall not make a speculation re it's shape. However, wife
Deborah thinks it is called a sugar stick or a sugar loaf or a
sugar roll. Still, it is more of an educated guess than I could
make. We shall see.

*
It's one half of a salt and pepper shaker set. - Anon in SK

The Window of Bacon Fat

The Window of Bacon Fat
Pictured is a one-pound pack of Oscar Mayer thick cut bacon — and a tape measure. The tape measure is there because the picture above (and the one below) comes from an article rating the “top grocery store bacon brands” on a website known as “Bacon Scouts” — for some reason when you need to rate bacon, you need to measure it. But that’s not important, and neither is the tape measure, at least not for our purposes.

What’s important is how the meat looks. As Bacon Scouts points out, “the way it is layered emphasizes the meaty side of the bacon. The strips are cut in a way so that one edge is the meat. This edge is then angled and displayed in a way to make the consumer think they are getting a great package of thick, meaty bacon.”
