HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

October 30

David Crawdad Cantera
(Harmonica and vocals) and

Tommy Roschkov
(Guitar and vocals)

Crawdad
- Quite a familiar face on the local blues scene, Crawdad grew up in the Ottwell area on the south side of Edmonton. He shows great technique on all styles of harmonicas catering to a true southern blues feel through his vast knowledge of the old blues greats. His musical attributes include working with bands Three Times The Blues, being the longest standing member of The Front Porch Roots Review, a former member of the house band at The Yardbird Suite, Jimmy and The Sleepers who represented western Canada at the Memphis Blues Challenge in 2011, The Fabulous Canolatones, The Ronnie Rault band, The Blues Aliens, and his own band The Flying Crawdads. Crawdad, Tommy Roschkov and Willie James Engel just received a 5 year certificate of merit award from The Hardisty Old Folks Home for their music charity work they have kindly donated. You can catch Crawdad co-hosting at The Sunday Soul Service open stage every Sunday afternoon at The Newcastle Pub on 90th ave and 61st.

Tommy - European blues comes to my mind when I think of Tommy. He has been based out of Edmonton for the past 25 years. He has been a consistent face on the western Canadian music scene. Although he has stayed true to a roots-music tradition, his career has been marked by diversity. He began by fronting a number of rockabilly ensembles such as The Screaming Roosters and Charlie Don't Surf. Over the years he has moved on to explore a variety of styles such as rhythm and blues, soul, folk-rock, country and experimental jazz. Tommy is mostly recognized by his work with the bands, Swingin Ya Band, The Stone Merchants, and The Carol Project. He has a long list of recordings to his credit. His guitar and vocal styles are well suited for the blues and we are happy to have back with his friend of many years, Crawdad for this one.
