Saturday Sessions September 16th Presents

This weeks Mark Ammar's Saturday Sessions show # 689 presents guest - Miss Rae - Miss Rae's honeyed voice drips with Southern Soul, front porch Delta Blues, and a smoky Parisian nightclub jazz feel. Raised on crackling vinyl, Billie Holiday and Big Mama Thornton were her initial vocal teachers. Miss Rae's big and bold voice has been compared to the likes of Etta James.

Although young at heart, Miss Rae is an old soul who will take you on a trip back in musical time. A woman of wanderlust, Miss Rae spent 40 days on a blues journey travelling throughout the southern states. Following in the footsteps of Robert Johnson and Howlin' Wolf by singing on porches under the Mississippi heat. She then crossed the waters to France, living and singing in Paris for nearly two years.

A woman of mixed ancestry, Miss Rae channels her African roots by delivering a passionate and powerful performance on stage. She treats every concert as though it were her final show. At 26 years old, Miss Rae is currently based out of her hometown of Edmonton, working on a sophomore album with the Midnight Ramblers, to be released in the Spring of 2018. So happy that Miss Rae accepted our invite to grace our stage and show as our guest. -
